Dust jacket unclipped, in clear protective sleeve, slight wear to edges, a few marks on back. Original cloth covers with bright gilt titling on spine. No ownership inscriptions. 186 pages clean and tight. The chapters in this volume are concerned with the environment of the third and early second millennia B.C. and the impact of man on this environment; with the growing evidence for agricultural techniques amongst early farming communities of Britain and Europe, and the diet of early man which this environment and economy produced; and with the surviving domestic sites of this system, causewayed camps and house sites. The book comprises papers delivered at a conference held in the University of Leicester in December 1969, several of which have since been revised in the light of more recent information. With the establishment of an acceptable framework for the Neolithic and Early Bronze Age in Western Europe, largely with the aid of C-14 determinations, it was the aim of this conference to deal with the broader economic and social aspects of the period, using the techniques of the social and biological sciences as well as those which have come to be considered purely archaeological.
