In The Indian Way of Life, Charles A. Eastman, a Sioux who became a physician, Wilfred Pelletier, an Odawa, Vine Deloria, Jr., author of Custer Died for Your Sins, and Smohalla, a Nez PercE, discuss the Indians' uniquely humanistic values. The third section includes accounts by Dee Brown, Chief William Red Fox and John Stands in Timber, who tells the story of what happened at Custer's last stand.
