Reseña del editor:
This book aims to combine scholarship with a broad view of the physical resources, historical background and traditions that have led to the magnificent range of French wines. An introduction explores the history of French wine and the factors determining the development of wine-growing in specific regions - the importance of monastic vineyards, the presence in Avignon of wine-loving Popes and the influence of the Plantagenet kings in encouraging Anglo-French trade links. Ancient traditions and modern techniques are seen against a background of detailed description and local traditions. The main section of the atlas looks at wine production in the different regions of France in the context of climate, geology and history. In extending our knowledge of the wines and vineyards of France, the author aims to provide a richer understanding of a whole civilization and way of life. NOTA: El libro no está en español, sino en inglés.
