The aims and structure of this concise review of respiratory medicine remain the same as previous editions but the whole text has been reviewed and updated, and there are new illustrations. The first part of the text is devoted to anatomy, physiology, clinical history, examination and special tests while the remainder is a disease-oriented description of clinical conditions. The emphasis is on information which is useful and relevant to everyday clinical medicine and the text focuses on concepts and investigations which are in current use and includes practical aspects of management of the major disorders.
