Descripción Hardcover. Condición: Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. Jacket by Universal Pictures Ilustrador. Reprint. First published in the UK in 1966, this is a third impression of the film tie in edition (published 1984), published in 1990. Ex library with usual stamps and defects. Some edge wear to top and bottom of jacket and spine, corners bruised, contents somewhat shaken, some yellowing to page block, spine and back jacket still bright orange and unfaded, not price clipped (£14.95), no personal inscriptions, internally clean and almost square, overall a reasonable copy for ex library. 447pp, with map of Dune at rear. Duke Leto Atreides has been manoeuvred by his arch enemy, Baron Harkonnen, into administering the desert planet of Dune. Although it is almost completely without water, Dune is a planet of fabulous wealth, for it is the only source of a drug prized throughout the Galactic Empire. The Duke and his son, Paul, are expecting treachery, and it duly comes but from a shockingly unexpected place. Paul succeeds his father, and he becomes a catalyst for the native people of Dune, whose knowledge of the ecology of the planet gives them vast power. They have been waiting for a leader like Paul Atreides, a leader who can harness that force, and the sandworms who provide the spice melange. The epic science fiction film written and directed by David Lynch and based on Frank Herbert's (1920-86), novel, stars Kyle MacLachlan (in his film debut) as Paul Atreides, and includes an ensemble of well known American and European actors in supporting roles. It was filmed at the Churubusco Studios in Mexico City and included a soundtrack by the rock band Toto, as well as Brian Eno. Quite scarce, even in this later impression.
