Reseña del editor:
Assistant cameraperson for a local New York news program, Rune finds information in the studio archives that could exonerate Randy Boggs, now serving time in Attica for a murder he claims he did not commit. Reprint.
Nota de la solapa:
spiring filmmaker with more ambition than political savvy, paying her dues as an assistant cameraperson for the local news. But she's got her eyes on the prize, the network's hot newsmagazine, Current Events -- and she's got the story she knows will get her there.

Poking around in the video archives, Rune spots a taped interview with Randy Boggs, who's doing hard time in Attica for a murder he claims he didn't commit. Rune can't say exactly why, but she's sure he's innocent. If she can prove it, Current Events won't merely report the news, it'll make news -- and Rune's career.

But what she could be writing is Randy Boggs's epitaph -- and her own. Rune's newly discovered witness soon turns up dead. A hit man from Miami is on Rune's trail, and Boggs is finding prison even more dangerous than before. Someone wants this story killed, and it could be the girl with the camera who ends up on the cutting room floor.

Descripción Mass-market paperback. Mass market paperback. Glued binding. Rune is a 22-year-old bundle of bright ideas--a Holly Golightly for the '90s. As a cameraperson for a local New York news program, Rune discovers a taped interview with a man doing time in Attica for murder. Rune thinks he's innocent. But in her efforts to write his story, Rune just might end up writing his epitaph--and her own. From Wikipedia: "Jeffery Deaver (born May 6, 1950) is an American mystery/crime writer. He has a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Missouri and a law degree from Fordham University and originally started working as a journalist. He later practiced law before embarking on a successful career as a best-selling novelist. He has been awarded the Steel Dagger and Short Story Dagger from the British Crime Writers' Association and the Nero Wolfe Award, and he is a three-time recipient of the Ellery Queen Reader's Award for Best Short Story of the Year and a winner of the British Thumping Good Read Award. His novels have appeared on bestseller lists around the world, including The New York Times, The Times, Italy's Corriere della Sera, The Sydney Morning Herald, and The Los Angeles Times. Deaver was born outside Chicago in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Deaver was a journalist, folksinger, and attorney. Deaver's most popular series features his regular character Lincoln Rhyme, a quadriplegic detective, and Amelia Sachs. Deaver stated in a 2006 Early Show interview that he would rotate between his new series and Lincoln Rhyme each year. Virtually all of his works feature a trick ending, or sometimes multiple trick endings. Deaver's 2001 book The Blue Nowhere features criminal hackers (one using social engineering to commit murder), as well as a law enforcement computer crime unit. In this book Deaver gives credit to Lee De Forest, the inventor of the Audion (also known as the triode tube). (De Forest is thus considered the inventor who opened the world to electronic development. ) Deaver edited The Best American Mystery Stories 2009. Three of Deaver's novels have been produced into films: A Maiden's Grave made for TV as film Dead Silence 1997 The Bone Collector released 1999 The Devil's Teardrop made for TV 2010 Deaver also created the characters and in a collaboration with 14 other noted writers wrote the 17-part serial thriller The Chopin Manuscript narrated by Alfred Molina that was broadcast on Audible from September 25 to November 13, 2007.
