A simply wonderful cornucopia of images to disappear into, dating from the 1840s to just prior to the first world war. The captions are great and the photographs themselves are mostly of extraordinary quality given the time they were taken. More than anything however, the breadth of subjects captured makes this book stand apart from many picture books about the Royal Navy, and the sailors and officers themselves are often the focus, though rarely posed in pristine uniforms, but rather shown at their work. Beautiful collection. This copy is from the library of Admiral Sir Brian Thomas Brown KCB CBE (born 31 August 1934) is a senior Royal Navy officer from 1852 to 1991 who went on to be Second Sea Lord and Chief of Naval Personnel. There is a small inscription from him to the front paste down. Ref JJJ 6. Nº de ref. del artículo: 023593
