Der Verfasser hat Jahre unverdrossener Arbeit auf dieses bescheidene Büchlein verwandt, er darf sagen, dass er es an Heiss und gutem Willen, an Begeisterung für unsere Vor zeit und Liebe zu unserer Schule nicht hat fehlen lassen. Sollte ihm bestätigt werden, dass der Weg, den er cinge* schlagen, kein Irrweg gewesen ist, so hofft er in nicht zu ferner Zeit eine Darstellung der nordischen Mythologie vor zulegen und gewissermassen als Vorarbeit dazu eine Über5 setzung und Erklärung von Saxo Grammaticus.
