Spooky or funny, surprising or frightening, SHOCK SHOP is a collection of brand-new novels by some of the greatest names in children's writing. STEALAWAY Bloodybow Castle, where Nicky's mother has a new job looking after horses, is a scary and forbidding place, steeped in centuries of Scottish history. When darkness falls, the ghosts of ancient border raiders seem to ride again - visiting the castle, its horses and inhabitants with increasing vengeance. How can Nicky and her new friend Jed protect Bloodybow's prize new stallion, Stealaway, from the ghostly marauders? And how can a mysterious white pony unlock the secrets of the past?
For decades, Kathleen Peyton has been a much-loved and respected writer for children. Her ambition on leaving school was to become a painter, and she studied at Kingston Art School and at Manchester Art School. Kathleen has written many books for children including the Flambards novels, and, most recently, Blind Beauty. She won the Carnegie Medal with her novel The Edge of the Cloud.
