Reseña del editor:
Excerpt from The Church of God: The Liquor Traffic; Poverty, Suffering and Sin, a Letter to the Archbishops, Bishops, Clergy, and All Ministers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
It is grievous to think that there are, perhaps, at this time, ten thousand parishes in England and Wales where no Church Temperance Society exists, either for adults or children and yet in every one of these ten thousand parishes drink is doing its deadly work; so that up to this day the e0ple have had no special help given to them by their Churc to enable them to grapple with their most deadly foe. It is a serious thing to bring such a charge against so large a body of the Clergy, and am grieved to have to do it, but it must be done and serious as it is to charge the Clergy with indifference to this important subject, it is very much more serious that the temporal and eternal interests of the people should be sacrificed.
