This book presents a novel technique for examining the pulse and the unique graphical record it creates, which significantly enhances the accuracy of data collected when studying the pulse. The author, a physiologist, was dissatisfied with the unreliable and imprecise data produced by the traditional method of manually feeling the pulse, particularly for capturing the subtle changes that occur in certain disease states. The author sought to rectify this by devising a more sensitive approach to pulse measurement. The author provides a detailed examination of the various pulse qualities and characteristics that can be identified visually, examining how these differ from the perception of these qualities through manual methods. This book will not only be of interest to physiologists, but also to clinicians and medical practitioners who may find the improved method and analysis of pulse qualities useful for diagnostic purposes.
