N o trace of this instrument remaining in the Observatory or in the recollection of any one now on the establishment, all that can be said concerning it is, that its readings have only been retained on Term Days and on the occasions of Disturbance Observations. The following brief description of it was given by Captain W. S. Jacob in the Introduction to the former volume.
