Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the sources used by the author of the Heliand, an Old Saxon poem written in the ninth century. The author of this book argues that the Heliand author relied heavily on Hrabanus Maurus' commentary on the Gospel of Matthew, rather than directly using the Gospels. This argument is supported by a detailed comparison of the Heliand text with Hrabanus Maurus' commentary. The author also discusses the broader literary and historical context of the Heliand, and explores the thematic depth and ideas presented in the poem. This book is a valuable resource for scholars of Old Saxon literature and medieval German literature. Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
