The author of this book has endeavored to meet this need and to furnish a richly illustrated and fully explained work on the science and art of plain and art metal forging. Much time and effort have been expended in arranging material, in preparing the text and illustrations and in selecting from among many samples of work those suited to every grade Of ability. In particular, the attempt has been made to furnish simple and detailed drawings illustrating each important Operation, as it is felt that the successive steps may often be shown more clearly in this way than by any amount of discussion.
