Different copies were compared, and found to be so exactly alike, that it was concluded they could only have been so written. By aid from the Evil One, so Faust was arrested on the charge of being in league with the devil, and hence originated the phrase, The devil and Doctor Fau'stusx He obtained his liberty only by revealing the secret of the manner of printing them.
