Die Natur der Sache gebot es, auf das Detail einzutreten. Meine Absicht geht dahin, einesteils zu orientieren, andernteils zu kritisieren. Bei allem, was ich sagte, leitete mich aber nur der eine Gedanke, zu dem grossen patriotischen Werke einen unmittelbaren Beitrag zu leisten. Überall hielt ich mich ‚in meinen Ausführungen an die Sache, dies ist ebensowohl eine Pflicht der Anerkennung fur die sehr tüchtigen Leistungen der Vor entwürfe als ein wissenschaftliches Gebot für Denjenigen, der nur der Wahrheit und dem Rechte dienen Will.
