Es war daher nötig, bis auf die ältere Literatur zurückzugreifen. Wir haben jedoch, um nicht zu weit zu gehen, vor dem großen Ehrenbergschen Werk von 1838 im wesentlichen nur die Arbeit von O. F. Müller von 1786 berücksichtigt und sonstige frühere Arbeiten (auch von Ehrenberg) nur erwähnt, wenn es für die Herkunft der Gattungsnamen notwendig war.
