Praise for the first edition: "The Politics of Women's Bodies is extraordinary. It took my breath away. It's a stunning and powerful array of some of my favorite pieces, plus several I had not known about. It is perfect for my introductory women's study course and I am already looking for other courses where I can also include it."--Mary F. Rogers, University of West Florida"An amazingly accessible and thorough introduction to issues of body image across race, sexual orientation, and generational lines."--K. Springer, Emory University Praise for the first edition: "The Politics of Women's Bodies is extraordinary. It took my breath away. Reseña del editor:
This anthology describes three themes: the social construction of ideas about women's bodies, the impact of these ideas on women's lives, and the potential for and limitations on women's resistance to these ideas. Selections cover a wide range of topics and disciplines, and were selected for their accessibility and for their attention to issues of class, ethnicity, age, and sexual orientation. With the exception of two classic articles, all articles were published in the last decade. One-quarter of the articles are new to this edition.
