Braving the New World, fourth edition features a selection of readings that provide a stimulating discussion of topics most often covered in the introductory political science courses. Welcoming a new co-editor to this edition, Braving the New World contains 27 readings in 5 thematic units. Featuring many high profile authors, Braving the New World readings cover many current and important world issues and national issues.

The authors have amassed over forty years experience teaching political science at Mount Royal College in Calgary, and have also taught in other post-secondary settings. In addition to teaching a wide range of introductory courses they have research and teaching interests in a number of sub-fields including comparative politics, federalism, public policy, constitutional politics, Alberta politics and aspects of political theory. Thomas Bateman currently holds a University of Alberta Doctoral scholarship.
