Safe for Life: Teacher's Guide to Safety Education for Children Aged 9 to 13 - Tapa blanda

This guide helps teachers explore important and complex issues with 9- to 13-year-olds. It offers a range of sensitively constructed activities that should lead children to consider their position in the community, and their rights and responsibilities to other members of it. Through these diverse activities, children can investigate the causes and consequences of anti-social behaviour, and examine ways of promoting a secure and positive environment for themselves and others. The book addresses six main themes: emotions; responsibilities to others; consequences of our actions; creating a safe and secure environment; and becoming a responsible citizen. Examples of the activities are: what to do with anger; solving conflicts; what are drugs; shoplifing is theft; the cost of crime; and desing a safer neighbourhood. All the activies have a consistent structure, and include the following features: aims; background information for the teacher; and photocopiable worksheets where appropriate. Many of the activities in this volume have useful cross-curricular links, and these are explicitly stated at the beginning of each chapter.
