A good quick read to see life from Khushwant Singh's perspective. His experiences, his views and his truths, all make a fantastic read. Specially if you are curious about India around and post partition please read this and all other books of Khushwant Singh. Although it might not stand tall as compared to other of his books ( For a regular Khushwant reader, there would be lot of repeated stuff), still worth a read for his superb English and great thought pattern. --By Nitin Malhotra on 26 July 2013

this book is a powerful message of how one can succeed despite shortcomings in Life. it profiles people whose stories will inspire the readers to think out of the box and to never, ever give up.In this book, titled after the Baburnama and Akbarnama, Khushwant Singh talks about his life and experiences, offering advice alongside anecdotes where he can. Clubbing humour with seriousness, he speaks of myriad topics, covering tips on braving old age and fending off the perils of bad health and extrapolating on the meaning of religion. Ever the satirist, he explains how humour and laughter play a vital role in our lives and how they have helped keep him spry even in his old age. A rare insight into the life of the man who was known as the Grand Old Man of Indian Letters, this book treats readers by offering Khushwant Singh's memories of the Partition and the changes which India went through after it. His humour and wit leave no topic unaddressed and touch upon the joys of sex with the flighty desires of a twenty-year old. His wisdom has shaped many generations and this book serves to shape many more after one of India's finest writers.
