Tells of two cousins, both named Ralph, and the problem of their inheritance of Gregory Newton's estate. Newton dearly wishes to leave his land to his son, an honest and trustworthy man, but illegitimate. Instead he feels compelled to bequeath it to his nephew.
Anthony Trollope (1815-82) was one of the most widely enjoyed and prolific novelists of the nineteenth century. His books include the great Chronicles of Barsetshire, of which Barchester Towers is the second volume. Trollope worked for the Post Office for much of his adult life, combining postal and literary business as he travelled around the British Empire. He has been credited with the creation of the distinctive British pillar box.

Softcover. Condición: Fine. Published in 1871, this novel tells a tale of crossed inheritance in which one Ralph Newton, a handsome ne'er-do-well, fully expects to inherit his family fortune, while his deserving cousin (also Ralph Newton), a bastard in the eyes of the law, cannot legally inherit what his father wishes to bequeath to him. Featuring the darker hues and confident social criticism of Trollope's maturity, this work presents a stunning portrait of the Victorian legal scene. 1.0875. Nº de ref. del artículo: SONG0140438300
