The development of the china clay industry in Devon and Cornwall has had a marked detrimental effect on the local landscape. In response to this the Department of the Environment commissioned Wardell Armstrong to carry out an assessment and review of practices on the landscaping and revegetation of china clay wastes. Their research reviews the options for unrestored land, current and partially complete tips and potential future tips, and identifies avenues for future research.
