Last published in 1994 in five volumes, this 1998 edition provides up-to-date guidance. In Volume One, "Operational management" is based on the 1994 "Mangement policy" and "Operational management" volumes. In Volume Two, "Design, installation, validation and verification" is based on the 1994 "Design considerations" and "Validation and verification" volumes. The contents of the "Good practice guide" are incorporated as appropriate. The section on water treatment has been expanded to include guidance on areas including chlorine dioxide, ionization and ultraviolet radiation. The HTM also includes new guidance on the control of legionellae in small healthcare premises, such as health centres, GP surgeries and clinics.
