Reseña del editor

A phrase book with attitude, this is a coffer of countless Latin phrases for use in all areas of contemporary life. From the creator of Latin for all Occasions and Latin for Even More Occasions comes the ultimate storehouse of ultra-contemporary expressions and epithets. Exploiting the mother of all tongues, Henry Beard proves once again that the best kind of language is a dead language. In X-Treme Latin the language of the gods is brought bang-up-to-date with chapters for the slacker and snow-boarder, and areas as diverse as 'Winespeak,' and 'Jury Excuses'. This must-have phrasebook is the ultimate collection of witty and befuddling retorts and remarks for any contemporary situation. Show off in a language that is superior in economy -- You are being downsized = Deduceris. Unleash hell on your enemies with oneliners and backhanded compliments in a language so cool they won't know what's hit them: You don't sweat much for a fat girl Ut puella pinguis non multum sudas. Philosphers can speak in the language of the ancients with the attitude of Arnie with phrases such as: I just ask myself, what would OJ do? Solum memet rogo, quiad faciat Sucus? And what better language for road rage than Roman? They built them after all! Where did you learn to drive -- fleeing from the Huns? Ubi discis vehi -- fortisne in fugam de barbaris? Now you can finally kiss goodbye to passive verbs with the ultimate phrase book for the 21st century.
