Green buckram, spine titled in gilt. Neat owner's name to front end-paper, foxing to edges else very good in dust-wrapper. A detailed study of the Peak District and its National Park. Topics covered include: the geology of the area; the resident flora and fauna; farms, villages, towns and cities; early man in the Peak; mining, mills and factories; farming and reservoirs. Appendices deal with the fish and bird life, nature conservation sites and ramblers clubs. Many good pictures of the area in the days before holiday cottages, masses of traffic and big roads. "Since the first edition a number of changes have occurred in and aroud the Peak National Park, most of which affect the human occupation rather than the natural environment. Assistance with the revision by Mr J.M. Smith, M.A., F.R.T.P.I., a senior official of the Derbyshire Country Planning Department, is gratefully acknowledged. In 1966 Professor Swinnerton died and in 1971 Professor Edwards retired to become Emeritus Professor of Geography in the University of Nottingham, while Mr. H.
