Hard Cover. Very Good/Not Issued in Dustjacket. First Edition. 32mo - over 4" - 5" tall. 320 pages. With dozens of letters by famous persons to famous persons - a true classic collection of great writing and style. The book is in its original cloth-covered boards. The boards and the spine once had elaborate stamped gilt floral designs, and while the gilt has been rubbed and some is gone, enough remains that the designs are still visible and affecting. All the exterior page edges are gilded. The book is clean, it stands perfectly straight, and it is still extremely firm and tight in its binding, no pages loose, missing, folded or torn. The hinges are sound and completely undamaged. All pages are clean, unsoiled and unsmudged, and all text is clear, sharp, crisp and very legible. There is some very brief, occasional foxing, but most of the pages have no foxing whatsoever. There is no writing, underlining, highlighting or markings of any kind in the book. There is an old bookseller's label, about the size of a postage stamp, on the front pastedown, likely the original seller from the 1830's, and a last name neatly and very briefly rubber-stamped on the rear paste down. NOT ex-library. The cloth headpiece at the top of the spine has been worn down, and there is a bit of wear to the cloth at the corner tips, but in all the cloth binding is surprisingly free of any serious wear. An exceedingly solid, very nice copy of a fascinating, very informative book. N° de ref. de la librería 5505
