This Austrian-American physicist was among those who developed the atomic bomb at Los Alamos on the Manhattan Project during World War Two; ironically, he later became a noted anti-nuclear activist, and co-founded the Union of Concerned Scientists; recipient of the Max Planck medal (1956), the National Medal of Science (1980) and the Wolf Prize (1981). Signed postal cover (NOT a first day cover), 6½" X 3½", cancelled in Chicago, Illinois on 2 December 1967. Near fine. Ornamental cachet at left depicts English sculptor Henry Moore's "Nuclear Energy" sculpture, with printed caption beneath noting its dedication on this date at the Fermi Lab at the University of Chicago; at right, below the stamp and postal cancellation, is printed "Atomic Energy -- 25 Years of Progress." In the center of the envelope, Weisskopf signs boldly in full in blue fineline. An uncommon signature. N° de ref. de la librería 35917
