Presentation copy; inscribed by the author, 'To Lady Grey from W.H. Hudson. Feb. 5, 1904.' The recipient was the wife of Hudson's friend and patron Viscount Grey of Fallodon. The only other inscribed copy we have had was presented a day earlier to the designer of the title page vignette. This exotic romance of the Venezuelan jungle was made into an Audrey Hepburn film in 1959. All books described as first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted. First edition was published in 1904. 325pp. William Henry Hudson (1841-1922) was an English author, naturalist, and ornithologist. This novel is an exotic romance about a traveller to the Guyana jungle in SE Venezuela and his encounter with a forest dwelling girl named Rima.
