Magazine The New Yorker Magazine, April 7, 1951, complete issue in extraordinary shape. Leonard Dove did the cover. This issue contains publication of a pair of ostensible protest letters from E.C. Comics' William M. Gaines, in reference to a previous issue of the NYer which listed the comic book titles published by Educational Comics; the letters demand correction of the titles' ownership. The first letter to the NYer from Gaines states his position as VP of Educational Comics and in it he is outraged that anyone would suggest that "Vault of Horror, "Tales From the Crypt," etc, are titles that an educational comic book company which publishes "Picture Stories From The Bible" would also print, and demands a retraction. The second letter from Gaines to the NYer states his position as VP of Entertaining Comics and expresses outrage that the NYer would claim that Educational Comics would publish the horror and sci-fi titles which Entertaining Comics publishes, and also demands an immediate retraction. Both letters are dated the same, so it's clearly a publicity stunt by Gaines, and it worked, as the NYer actually published them right after the other in this issue (they rarely published any letters), for an interesting piece of EC history. The pages are crisp and clean, bright white without a hint of foxing or any other staining, no writing, no creases, nothing missing, tight to the staples. Strictly graded Mint; it was put away when brand new (along with many others we have) by an obsessive New Yorker collector from whom we acquired it, untouched since new until now. We have many other beautiful New Yorkers online now so please take a look. N° de ref. del artículo 61105-1322
