Descripción Kein Einband. Deuxième Édition. - Prefacé du Dr. Dejerine. - Paris, Masson, 1905, 8°, XV, I. 559, (1) pp., LndBd.d.Zt. SECOND EDITION in a well preserved copy. the first edition was published in March/Aplril 1904 and went out of print almost immediately. Charles Paul Dubois (1848-1918), physician in Berne, later professor of neuropathology there, achieved great fame as a psychotherapist. He was one of the founders of the Swiss Society of Neurologist. "Dubois, one of the most popular names fifty years ago, when Jelliffe and White translated his chief work on nervous disorders (into English) . Freud, in his derogatory reference to Jung's conceptions, implies that Dubois was his inspiration. Although both Jung and Dubois are Swiss, it is not likely that the latter had influenced Jung in any way. The moral aspect in psychotherapy is what links the two . The principle which operates in Dubois's System is moral suasion - an echo of Heinroth's theological psychiatry . Dubois's experience with patients was extensive, and his treatment was effective, while his books, without pretence of elaborate research, were sound presentations of the lesser mental troubles and contained much wisdom" - Roback, History of Psychology and Psychiatry, SS. 311 ff.; Ackerknecht, Psychiatry, pp. 88 ff.; HBLS II, 749.
