Reseña del editor:
Originally associated with the British Pop Art movement in the early 1960s, Joe Tilson (b. 1928) has achieved international acclaim over the last fifty years for the individuality and originality of his paintings, constructions, painted reliefs, prints and multiples, whose sources are drawn from literature, philosophy, ethnography and alchemy. This handsome book brings together his graphic works. Refusing the traditional boundaries of printmaking, they often include found objects or newspaper cuttings, fusing a cubist approach with his Pop sensibility. His more recent prints mix silkscreen, woodcut and etching to produce radiant matrices of rich colour, in which are embedded butterflies, birds and objects loaded with symbolic meaning. Lavishly illustrated, the book confirms Tilson’s reputation as one of the most innovative and exciting of contemporary artists. Enzo Di Martino is a curator and art critic. His many published works include Mimmo Paladino Graphic Work: 1974–2001 (2002) and The History of the Venice Biennale (2005) Philip Rylands is Director of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venice
