From the introduction: "During the long period in which Great Britain and France struggled for the supremacy on the North American continent the affairs and friendship of the Indians were of the greatest importance. This was especially true of the Iroquois and the Western Indians Many of the records of the various treaties with the Indians exist only in manuscript; some have been printed in the Journals of the Governors and Councils It is the object of this monograph to locate and describe such as were separately printed. A brief synopsis of the contents of each treaty is given, and also the location of copies in the principal libraries and private collections. It is quite probable that they were printed in very small editions, which would account for their rarity " Bound in the original gilt-stamped green cloth. First Martino printing. Hardcover.
