Laura Hensley Choate, EdD, LPC, NCC, is Associate Professor of Counselor Education at Louisiana State University, where she designed and teaches a course in Girls' and Women's Wellness. She has authored over 30 refereed journal articles on girls' and women's wellness and a book, "Girls' and Women's Wellness: Contemporary Counseling Issues and Interventions "(2008). She was a guest editor of a special issue on eating disorder prevention and treatment for the Journal of Counseling and Development and has presented at over twenty national conferences. Dr. Choate is a former editor of the "Journal of College Counseling" and has twice been appointed as the chair of the American Counseling Association Publications Committee. She serves on the Louisiana Licensed Professional Counselors Board of Examiners and is the current Board Vice-Chair and the Chair of the Discipline Committee. Dr. Choate also conducts workshops for local girls and college students to promote body image resilience and awareness of these cultural trends.
