While the devotions in this book, like those in my prior devotional "90 Daily Devotions for Lawyers & Judges and Those They Serve" (Concerning Life Publishing 2013), are aimed primarily at the legal profession, those outside the profession may find them of some benefit as well. Although meant to inform and, perhaps, even to entertain, they can also serve as a reminder that "time is of the essence" and the offer of "everlasting life" must be accepted while one lives. Beyond that, to paraphrase the late, baseball great Yogi Berra, "When it's over, it's over." Waiting too long to claim the right to eternal life can have adverse consequences.

Bert Goolsby is the former Chief Deputy Attorney General of South Carolina and a retired judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals. He has authored seven novels, three short-story collections, and a book of Christian devotionals, the latter entitled 90 Devotions for Lawyers & Judges and Those They Serve. South Carolina Lawyers' Weekly serialized his novel Harpers' Joy. He also has authored short stories and articles. Goolsby lives in Columbia, South Carolina, with his wife Prue.
