Janice Garden Macdonald (1956-) was born in Toronto, Ontario Canada. She has worked as a bookstore manager, publisher's representative, a library consultant and owned a bookstore of her own, which specialized in children's books. She is the author of the middle-school comic stories "Diary of a Real Kid" and "Like Me on Farcebook" which are part of the "Stranger Than Weird" series for young readers. She is the author of "The Plainness of My Fall" a collection of award winning short stories and "The Oxygen Girl" a young adult novella in the "Steampunk Fiction" series. She is a Zoetrope All Story Winner, and a three-time Moondance Film Festival award winner; in the children's book category (Upik and the Parallel Universe) in the short story category (Walrus in a Glass Cage) and in the animated screenplay category (The Sock Opera). She was awarded a Canada Council grant for literature for her work in the short story genre.
