Reseña del editor:
A little dog named Gizmo and his owner Ava, go out for a walk on a warm sunny day. As they are looking at all the beautiful things around them, Gizmo noticed a beautiful butterfly. He chased it and unknowingly got farther and farther away into the woods. When Gizmo realized he was nowhere near Ava and cannot see her, he realizes he is lost and cannot find his way home. Walking even deeper into the woods, Gizmo happens upon different animals that make their home in the woods. Innocently he asks them all the same question."Do you know where my home is?" They try to help, each thinking Gizmo lives like they do. Tito the turtle invites him to live in his shell. Ziggy the squirrel concludes Gizmo lives in a tree. But each idea doesn't seem to work for poor Gizmo. Almost giving up Gizmo happens upon a wise Barn owl named Barney. Barney tells Gizmo the best advise ever. Turn around and go back the way you came and listen out for the calling of your name. Running back as fast as he can, he soon sees Ava and excitedly tries to tell her of his adventure. Not able to understand, Ava takes Gizmo home to his own little bed. Tired and sleepy, but safe and sound, Gizmo lays dreaming of his new friends. My inspiration for this story came from my pet Shih-Tzu, Gizmo. When taking him on walks, he never ceases to amaze me at his wonderment of the outdoors and all the creatures of the woods. Although he loves the outdoors, he is always so happy to be back home. My writing credits stem only from writing short poems at George Washington High in the year 1977 that were published in the school paper. My favorite author is Edger Allen Poe.
