On October 29, 1618 Sir Walter Raleigh was executed on a scaffold in the yard outside of London's Gatehouse Prison. His death was an event of international as well as local interest. It is this Dutch edition of Raleigh's famous scaffold speech that we present here, in facsimile and in an English transaltion on pages 16-59. We believe it appropriate to introduce into the voluminous literature on Raleigh's life and accomplishments this facsimile and translation of the first printed edition of one of the more famous speeches in the history of English public address. 79 pp. ( We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. etc.).
