Reseña del editor:
Myths in Israeli Culture is an attempt to comprehend various aspects of the rapidly changing Israeli culture through some of the texts written before and after the establishment of the State of Israel. The texts studied are taken from the political system (party leaders' speeches, leaflets and posters, election propaganda), the media (newspaper and television), literature and the cinema, and from street signs and graffiti.
By analysis and comparison, Myths in Israeli Culture used these narratives to shed new light on different chapters of the modern history of Israel.

Descripción Paperback. Condición: new. Paperback. This work is an attempt to comprehend various aspects of the rapidly changing Israeli culture through some of the texts written before and after the establishment of the State of Israel. The texts studied are taken from the political system (party leaders' speeches, leaflets and posters, election propaganda), the media (newspaper and television), literature and the cinema. An analysis of these texts reveals that despite their dissimilar forms and styles, they are based and constructed upon identical narratives that appear and reappear in variations according to the specific events taking place at a given time and the system in which they occur. They might well be called ideological narratives, for they transmit ideological messages that, although not formulated directly, can be discerned in the subtexts. Such narratives articulate the common and shared world-view of a given society, provide legitimacy to its social order, foster integration between its members, and lead them into action. By analysis and comparison, this book uses these narratives to shed new light on different chapters of the modern history of Israel. This study looks at aspects of the rapidly-changing Israeli culture through some of the texts written before and after the establishment of the state of Israel. It considers the concept of idealogical narrative that runs through the subtexts, revealing a shared worldview.
