I wrote the script for the BBC TV documentary and video, in which he, the National Rifle Association, Bisley for short, was the star. But the involvement didn't end there. In the course of research, the director, Alex Leger, pointed out that there was no definitive history, no book which told the story of the NRA from the beginning until the present day. 'What a marvellous picture book it would be. It wouldn't need many words,' he said. I agreed. Dick Douglas-Boyd at Pelham Books thought otherwise.
