Blue cloth cover, gilt sp. lettering, clean and unworn bar thin fading strip bottom sp. f/piece + 353, 24 text ills, 4 ills on 3 plates ex-pagination; colourless round impressed exlib stamp of Derek Gair Gibson to fr. end-paper, (he being an eminent British cardiology, 1935-2021), otherwise no obvuous faults. Unclipped jacket, seriously nicked and chipped to top edge, worst nicks now internally closed but 1st sp. title word visibly split, bottom edge has some small nicks and chips also, traces of surface dustiness to back, will add protective sleeve when ordered. Young contributed to a wide variety of fields including medicine, the theory of light, decoding Egyptian hieroglyphics, navigation and contributing numerous important entries to the Encyclopaedia Britannica from 1817-25, including one on tides. 15 cm x 22 cm.
