VERY RARE gilded & embossed illustrated hardcover book. "Surrey Archaeological Collections - Volume XXIV" By The Surrey Archaeological Society. This is the First Edition, printed by Roworth & Co., Limited for The Surrey Archaeological Society, London, 1911. Heavy book. PLEASE NOTE: As this book is heavy (over 1.1 Kg with packaging), if you are buying this from outside the U.K. please expect additional shipping costs. 8vo, 22.6 cm x 15 cm x 3 cm, Dark blue cloth-covered boards, Gilt embossed lettering on spine, Gilt embossed logo of The Surrey Archaeological Society on front cover, Clear embossed bars on spine, Clear embossed framing on front & back cover, Some unevenly sized pages, no dust-jacket. 212 pages. Weight: 840 Grams. CONTENTS ARE LIKE NEW!!! However, there are 2 or 3 cracks in between pages, including between last end paper & pastedown. Spine is slightly discoloured & marked, bumped & scuffed either end, gilt slightly dull. Cover is slightly marked, few light scratches mostly on back, gilt quite bright, edge wear including bumps. Corners are scuffed, bottom ones are bumped. Outer edges tanned & slightly marked, bottom edges has indents. Also incuded are 2 stapled booklets, inserted in between p. 6 & 7, the rusty staples have left marks on book's pages, outer pages of booklets marked & slightly frayed round edges. Some pages (very few) have tiny edge bumps/nicks. Light age tanning & very rare foxing throughout, more pronounced on end papers & pastedowns. RARE ITEM, EXCELLENT CONDITION INSIDE!!!
