Descripción
Half titlle +i + Full title + blank + 16 pages of text) + 101 full single sided pages of Architectural illustrations (in green or brown) + thin paper between illustrations. Very much in the Gothic Revival , with a touch of Elizabethan and even a minute touch of Art Nouveau, with some great overhanging windows ( some with the fair maiden), iron gates, Towers, Monuments, very ornate doorways, windows and gable ends, very much aimed at the super rich or,church & municipal/institutions.Original binding is fair/good with just minor sunning to spine (readable gilt titles), rear has minor sunning to top 1/4. Contents over 90% very good and clear, due to the poor glue used in binding 1st few pages of Text and last illustration /endpaper are detached ( 3 with folds, nicks to edge only). NO inscriptions or hardly any signs of use,.infact this is getting to become very rare and a hard to find title as especially in the 1970/80s when print dealers used to break them up for the 101 full page illustrations, as at that time the prints were worth more than the book. also free with this is a very rare item, it is a folded 3 page 9 3/4" x 11 3/4" advertising flyer printed on poor paper with tears .nicks and staining with 1896 reviews, some very diverse , mostly good and some bad. The poor glue used in binding is most likely due to the binder using gutta-percha glue, which of course we now know rarely lasts 100 years before it breaks down and all the pages become detached. We believe that time has come and all the pages are most likely to become detached when the pages are used/turned. Very rare at time of listing, found no other copy for sale.weight is over 5 lbs and size is 10 1/2" X 12"inches x 1 1/2" thick Approx. So if going outside the UK, there will be a surcharge to cover the shipping cost. N° de ref. del artículo 000407
