Roger Fry, a celebrated English painter, was a member of the Bloomsbury Group; an intimate group of friends made up of English writers, intellectuals, philosophers and artists. Members included Roger Fry among Virginia Woolf, John Maynard Keynes, E. M. Forster, Lytton Strachey, Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell and Leonard Woolf. Most of the group was loosely associated with the University of Cambridge/King's College. Of note, Roger Fry had a well-publicized affair with Vanessa Bell, Virginia Woolf's sister. Upon Fry's unexpected death in 1934, Virgina Woolf wrote this intimate biography of her dear friend. This biography was published July 1940 to mixed critical reviews, sending Woolf into a depression; nine months later she would take her own life. This is the last book published in Virginia Woolf's lifetime. First edition, first printing in its original uncommon DJ. VG+/VG-. N° de ref. del artículo 003022
