" This is the first edition of Donnelly's poems to be published" Eavan Boland in a review written for the Irish Times in 1988 of "Charlie Donnelly The Life and Poems" by Donnelly's brother Joseph writes "I've often thought that he bears some resemblance to Francis Ledwidge. Both belong to the shadow side of Irish Poetry both of them are casualties of the historical margins. Neither of them fought in a war which advanced the Irish cause. Both were gallant, bright and persuasive voices in the middle of the barbarism in which they found themselves" Review of "Charlie Donnelly: Life and Poems" 1988 laid in. Scarce in this condition.
