The Poacher, H.E. Bates, Jonathan Cape, 1935, First Edition, First Impression Written in four parts, this is the fifth novel from Bates and tells the story of the Luke Bishop from about 1880 when he is about 20 years old to some time after the end of World War I. A First Edition, First Impression in very good condition. The binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine quite bright. There is sun damage to the spine and some shelf wear to the bottom edge of the spine. The end papers and pages are free from marks, tears or inscriptions.
