Descripción
General Wood (1860-1927) was an extremely high-profile military man. Among many other things he was, at one time or another: personal physician to the President of the United States, recipient of the Medal of Honor, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army, Military Governor of Cuba, Governor General of the Philippines, first Commander of The Rough Riders (with Theodore Roosevelt as his second-in-command), Presidential candidate, etc. This military history of his focuses much on the misconceptions, defects, and errors of judgment in military policy. This is a very good copy indeed of the scarce first edition. There is some slight browning of the edges and endpapers, and there's a name on the front pastedown. But a clean, tight, sharp-cornered copy in a good dust jacket. The jacket is encased in a plastic sleeve which seems to be stuck to it. There is some loss to the rear panel, deep chips to spine ends and top corner, and what appears to be closed tears to bottom of front panel. The book is very hard to find in any sort of dust jacket.
