Waxed yellow end papers, wood-engraved frontis & extra title page, several additional plates, foxing, tight. A couple of old ink stamps, "First Light-House District," and "Portland P. F. Fraternity." Accounts of Lucretia and Margaret Davidson; Mrs. Adams; Mrs. Washington; Madame de Stael; Lady Hester Stanhope; Hannah More; Mrs. Barbauld; Madame de Genlis; Josephine; Marie Antoinette; Madame Roland; Madame de Sévigné; Mary, Queen of Scots; Elizabeth, Queen of England; Isabella of Spain; and Joan of Arc.Samuel Griswold Goodrich, alias Peter Parley, (1793-1860); born in Connecticut. Goodrich was a prolific author and publisher of children s books.
