Dark brown cloth, with titling gilt on spines, top-edges gilt; unclipped, tan paper dustjackets printed in black & red. Former owner's printed book labels on front paste-down of each volume; earlier ink inscription on facing endpaper of volume one: Samuel Charles With love, 25th January 1936. A.G.C. Dustjacket spines and edges show some chipping, tears, browning to paper of dustjacket spines. Some scattered tan spotting to book fore-edges, endpapers, prelims., and to some page margins. "This is the first complete edition of the letters of Charles Lamb and Mary Lamb. Altogether these volumes contain over a thousand letters, some of them hitherto unpublished, and many of them never before assembled together." (Publisher's statement on the dustjacket panels).
