The Jungle Doctor series were the brain child of Paul White, an Australian missionary born in 1910 and evolved into an extremely successful Christian comic book series. Many examples, like this one, have a Sunday School award plate on the reverse of the fep. They are very collectible. Reminiscent of The Jungle Book, they feature talking animals, and each fable is followed by a discussion and explanation by Daudi, the Jungle Doctor, and a reference to scriptural references in the appendix. The writing is of good quality, as are the illustrations, addressing the reader at several levels. This volume, with black printing on blue-green boards, has no dust jacket. There are illustrated endpapers as well as 88 illustrations by Harry Rogers and the aforementioned Award plate, "Paul White, Third Prize, Queen Edith Chapel Sunday School 1961." This is the Paternoster Press edition with the publishing details "First Published, September 1958" Top edge and back endpaper show some foxing, and pages are lightly tanned. Interior pages have no other writing or marks. Boards are somewhat faded and soiled. Spine has light edge scraping and slight cocking. Boards are curving at the edge (no longer flat). Spine top and bottom, corners are unbumped. Condition is very good. N° de ref. del artículo 000191
